Soo a family member gave me a Cisco switchboard from work. I don't really know what to do with it. Any way to get any use out of this??

Duct tape, a few paper clips, some warp core dilithium crystals, and a bezoar along with that switch and you got your self the makings of a nice door stop.

It's a simple 24 port 10/100 unmanaged L2 switch.

Oh! I thought it was going to be telephony-related equipment.

Well, it's an Ethernet switch. If you plug multiple computers into it, they'll be able to talk amongst each other. Throw in a router and a connection to the Internet, and they'll be able to connect to the Internet.

The manual and stuff will be here: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/lbc/EF3124

It can't even really do that.. lights turn on, blink, whatever, but it doesn't actually recognize the input. Might as well store it for when Verizion FIOS comes by 10 years from now..

If it doesn't work, put it down in the basement with the broken laser printer, the old CRT monitors, and the jeans that are a couple sizes too big/small. Eventually, you'll either scavenge it for parts or haul it off to the recycler at wifepoint.

I fight back. Okay, if I'm getting rid of this, you gotta get rid of this thing you've been hoarding.

Usually it works out well. If I really want to keep it, I pick something I know she wants to keep. If I can let it go, I pick something she'd let go :D
