mailx doesn't work

Hi! I'm a linux noob setting up my new Ubuntu 10.04 Linode.
I was following the tutorial on setting up Postfix here:
http://library.linode.com/email/postfix/dovecot-mysql-ubuntu-10.04-lucid

But when I got to the entering the Code: mailx bob@avionio.com part, after setting the Cc: and Subject: fields, the shell just froze forever. It still doesn't appear to be doing anything.

What could be the problem?

Is it accepting input? What does Ctrl-D do? Or Ctrl-C?

If it's completely unresponsive and doesn't even echo back your input, I'd imagine your SSH connection to your Linode was interrupted somehow.
