I am facing the situation where the party that pays the service is not the party that should technically manage the purchased Linode. Is it possible to separate the purchasing & billing aspects of the Linode services from the purely technical management ?

(Yes, this is the first time I am considering Linode for my hosting needs….)

Thanks in advance,
Jari

you can sign up as yourself, then create a new user that only has the "Can view invoices, make payments, update contact and billing info, and will receive copies of all invoices and payment emails " permissions.

That won't stop you from seeing the billing stuff, though.

Hmm... The goal is basically to hide the credit card info from the admin. As far as I understand your proposal will not solve this problem.

Anyway, thanks for your reply & time.

You can still create an additional restricted user with the "Yes - this user can only do what I specify" option. The things you can specify:

Quote: Global GrantsCan add Linodes to this Account ($)
Can add NodeBalancers to this Account ($)
Can add Domains using the DNS Manager
Can create StackScripts under this account
Can view invoices, make payments, update contact and billing info, and will receive copies of all invoices and payment emails
Can cancel the entire accountLinode GrantsAll Privs - Gets all existing privileges and any future privileges
Access - Ability to manage this Linode, including boot/shutdown, deploying, deleting images, etc
Remove - Ability to cancel this Linode
Add Extras - Ability to add Extras to this Linode
Remove Extras - Ability to remove Extras from this Linode
Resize - Ability to resize this LinodeNodeBalancer Grants
All Privs - Gets all existing privileges and any future privileges
Access - Ability to manage this NodeBalancer
Remove - Ability to delete this NodeBalancerDNS Zone GrantsAll Privs - Gets all existing privileges and any future privileges
Access - Ability to manage this Domain
Remove - Ability to delete this DomainStackScript GrantsAll Privs - Gets all existing privileges and any future privileges
Use - Ability to use this StackScript
Edit - Ability to edit and publish this StackScript
Delete - Ability to delete this StackScript
For your tech admin, you can select that he/she only has the Access permission enabled for your specific Linode (or other Linodes you may have in your account).

It is hidden, you can see only the last 4 digits and the exp time, even if you're the only user on the account.

You can also go the other way: Have your user sign up for an account and create the node, and give you the admin a user with sufficient access.
