Couple of questions:

1. Do I really need to setup a domain zone using the Linode 'DNS Manager'? Why can I not just point the domain from where it is registered (123-REG) at the IP address of my Linode?

2. Not a DNS expert here, as you probably can tell from the question, but my client has a third party email service and they want to us their current nameservers setup and not use the Linode nameservers. Is there a way round not using Linode nameservers if I have to setup a domain zone? As when I do setup a domain zone you cannot edit the NS record.

Any help much appreciated from a confused non DNS savvy brain...

Regards,

Danjev

You do not need to use the Linode nameservers. You can use any nameserver to point to your Linode.

Hi there,

So to be totally clear in my head I'd just need to setup an A record to point to the Linode IP address where I control all my dns records (which won't be with Linode dns manager).

Thanks Peter for your time in replying to my query.

Dan
