I'm having an issue on 2 servers that are setup with ip failover on linode using heartbeat.

Server 1 has 6 ip addresses attached to it in the linode interface that need to have failover. Server 2 is setup with ip failover on all 6 of those ip addresses in the linode interface.

In the ha configuration, however, 3 of those ip addresses are setup to prefer to be on Server 2 by default, and 3 are setup to be on Server 1 by default.

Recently there have a been a couple of issues with Server 1 that have warranted a reboot. When this happened, all of the sites on Server 1 came back up properly after the reboot. However, even though Server 2 was never touched, the sites that default to that server were no longer available. They ended up coming back about a half hour later without anyone doing anything.

The ip addresses on Server 2 did not change at all in this situtation, but I was not able to ping any of the 3 ip addresses that were setup by the ha to be managed by Server 2 after the Server 1 restart.

I'm wondering if Server 1 tries to retake all of the ip addresses setup on it in the linode interface when it restarts, even if some of those ips are already taken by another server.

If that's not the case, then I'm not sure what's going on here. If anyone has any idea, then I'd greatly appreciate the help. If you need more information, then let me know.

Thanks!
