Hi all, Mail from my server to any recipient with a 1and1.com address (a commercial email provider) is being rejected. I tried a telnet connection to the 1and1.com SMTP server as follows: alastair@li357-174:~$ telnet mx00.1and1.co.uk 25 Trying 212.227.15.41... Connected to mx00.1and1.co.uk. Escape character is '^]'. 554-kundenserver.de (mxeue005) Nemesis ESMTP Service not available 554-No SMTP service 554-Bad DNS PTR resource record. 554 For explanation visit http://postmaster.1and1.com/en/error-messages?ip=178.79.188.174&c=rdns Connection closed by foreign host. It looks like its complaining about my reverse DNS set-up. Does anyone have any idea if that's right, and if so, what might be wrong? Or any other suggestions? Many thanks, Alastair |

It appears that they don't like reverse DNS entries of the form li###-###.members.linode.com. Try setting your reverse DNS to your server's fully-qualified domain name (something like blah.example.org) and see if that helps. It may take up to 24 hours for the change to be seen at 1and1's name servers. |
