Okay I'm lost here. I *finally* figured out how to get postfix compiled using the Berkeley DB, but heres the thing, it doesn't seem to be moving the binaries to the appropriate folders. The postfix build instructions mention no "make install" (of course their method of implementing Berkeley DB was WRONG too). The make install errors on me at some point when I'm typing in paths. Is there an easier way to do this (./configure anybody?) ? I really don't wanna resort to installing the sasl package. It seems postfix is one of progs that's a pain to build. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx!

Say, mysql comes with a db.h header right? I may not even need to use Berkeley. I was originally wanting to use mysql with postfix. I think the package mysql install I did was b0rked as the file was not present before I installed Berkeley DB. I may need to just compile mysql instead. I guess that means rebuilding apache/php too eh? *sigh* Slackware packages don't seem very good

Have you checked out linuxpackages.net? They have a postfix package, but I don't know what it supports.

Full Disclosure: I'm a convert from Slackware to Debian. It was a huge jump to make, and I really hated Debian at first. But now I love Debian and its amazing packaging system saves me so much time.

yeah I tried that package, but for some reason I cannot get SMTP auth to work with it. In fact, when telnetting to the SMTP server, it returns no response. I installed qmail and it seems to work good I know qmail is old but there are modules for it to give it smtp auth, ssl, etc support. It's funny to install, but I like the way it is setup.
