Post subject:  Mailman configuration problem

I currently have a domain & email hosted with a hosting provider, but they do not allow use of mailman for mailing lists.

I do have a linode. I was wondering if I could set up mailman on my linode & have it handle a mailing list for my domain hosted with my hosting provider without having to move email entirely to my linode?

Thanks
Juston

If you're only sending mail out, then yes.

Just remember to update your SPF records if you have any, and make sure you're postfix server (or whatever mail server you use) doesn't act as an open relay so you don't get done for spamming.

I havent installed anything mail related on my linode yet... Just wondering what steps I need to take to make sure I get everything set up properly?

I've set up a webserver before but I have never configured anything mail related....

Also, if you don't mind your Mailman addresses being, for example, something@lists.example.com instead of something@example.com, consider keeping your example.com MX records the same and adding an MX record for lists.example.com to route mail to your Mailman server. (I do that for a couple domains.)
