| Post subject: | zimbra instance to small |
hey guys, I am running zimbra on an 1024 (1gb) instance to serve as a personal mail domain. However it keeps running out of memory and going down. I have to reboot the instance every time I want access to my mail server (not pracical! I was wondering a couple of things.. 1) what is the smallest size you think would be practical to use for a zimbra instance. 2) is there a way to increase the size (memory and hd) of your instance without losing what you already have? thanks! |

Certainly. Check out the resize tab in the Linode manager. |

I have a zimbra install on Ubuntu LTS on a 1024 and it runs OK handling mail for a few dozen mailboxes across a handful of domains. Very small. Sounds like your needs are actually less, but if they're more, I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't fit. I actually had it running at one point in time on a 768, but ugh, performance was horrible! bluethundr wrote: 2) is there a way to increase the size (memory and hd) of your instance without losing what you already have?
Yes, upgrade your linode to the next size. It's more cost effective than throwing some RAM and HDD at your current one. |

The other thing to consider is, is there anything else running on the linode besides zimbra? |
