You guys should try testing with different file sizes. For linodes, 10MB won't give accurate results due to high speed. Check this out:

Tailing-Aaron.mov is 91 MB...

Testing using CacheFly might not be very useful. They have servers at other data centers in California, New York and Dallas, so your Linode will probably get great speeds. I know my Dallas node does.

BTW, at speeds like that you should use "wget -O /dev/null" to make sure disk I/O doesn't slow it down.

great advice! although until now, storage seems to be able to sustain 10-15 Mbps transfer rates just fine.

i think a great download test would be something like downloading large file off Microsoft's servers. they're using Akamai (and other distributors) so the mirror should be automatically found in your local neighborhood.

Its a safety valve (across all the plans). If you're continually hitting it and its becoming a problem, you can open a ticket to have it adjusted, but in realistic everyday use.... I've never pushed that much data out of my Linode at once.

I can understand that. 30Mbps is slightly low by today's standard considering some US home users already with 30-50Mbps fiber connections.
