I've decided to retire this Announcement forum in favor of a blog. The rest of the Community Forums will continue to function as they always have, but I believe that a blog is a better place for company related things.

I did manage to code up a nice little phpbb to wordpress importer, so the entire history of announcements and posts has been duplicated into the blog, complete with comments. For those of you tracking the Announcements Forum via RSS, please update your feed to the URL below:

http://blog.linode.com/feed/ <-- Entries RSS
http://blog.linode.com/comments/feed/ <-- Comments RSS

This will be the last post to the Announcements Forum. So, you should go hit the blog right now, because you never know -- there may actually be something new you should know about. Seriously. Go click on the blog.

Can someone with a paid account create an LJ feed of that blog please? Otherwise it's yet another ****ING place I have to hunt to find information.

Seriously, caker. THIS IS A BAD IDEA. By moving information into yet another system you're making it more work for people to keep up to date. Instead of having to check one system I now have to check two, just to get the same results? Ugh.

I've created http://syndicated.livejournal.com/linodeblog/ (actual content won't show up for an hour or so I guess but it is pointing at that feed).

Regards the LJ feed, if Linode ever decide to take the index.php out of the blog URLs, can they please redirect the old URLs?

I've set up an email subscription via feedburner, for those who prefer things that way: http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/emailverifySubmit?feedId=1786712&loc=en_US

Ever heard of an RSS reader?

Regardless, there are RSS-to-email gateways too, if you want to be informed when there's something new.

I understand the whole issue with 'two systems omg!!!11' but honestly I always sort of thought that a largely user-populated forum wasn't really an appropriate venue in which to release important product information like upgrades and new features. I think a blog's much better suited for highlighting that sort of of information, with its more-official veneer.

Excellent idea, and thank you for posting the RSS feed links right in the post!

Works for me. That's what RSS readers are for. I check my RSS reader far more often than these forums too.

Maybe this topic should be the top sticky in this forum? Or, better yet, sticky a new topic with the title "Linode.com announcements are now at http://blog.linode.com" or something like that.

I'm thinking someone might miss the subtitle on the Forums page, or land here by a different route.
