I am looking for 10 to 15 brave souls, er, existing Linode 64 customers who are currently at ThePlanet that would be willing to migrate their Linodes to Host4. At the same time, you will be
upgraded to the Linode 96 plan for free -- you will
continue to pay the Linode 64 prices.
Host4 had been running under 2.4.21 kernel for quite some time, and as you all know, experienced deadlocks or silent deaths, whereby no kernel oops would be printed, etc. This made debugging the problem difficult. I've upgrade the machine to much more recent kernel and have been hammering away on it (running a few "
contest" threads to generate load) and so far so good.
Here are the conditions:
- Migrate you to host4, upgrade you to Linode 96 (no changes are required on your end, keep same IPs, filesystems, etc)
- You get a Linode 96 at the L64 price.
- If everything goes well (say 60 days no problems), then you can stay on host4 and enjoy your discounted Linode 96
- Be aware, that this means you accept the possibility of downtime due to reboots
- If there are problems with host4 freezing again, your old slots will remain reserved for you to move back onto
- If there are problems, you can back out at any time
- If we do have to move you back, you'll be back on the Linode 64 plan, but you can keep your extra disk space for free.
- update: XFER will remain at 25 GB
What do you guys think? If you're interested, post a reply here and I'll contact you guys in a few days.
Thanks,
-Chris
