I signed up today for a linode and was quite surprised to discover that you need to phone us to confirm our subscription. Given that your sign-up page says all accounts are activated within hours I was expecting a fully automated process...

Also what do you mean when you say 'you may be required to fax a signed service agreement or provide additional information' (or words to that effect). It would have been nice to know this before completing the sign up process as faxing something could prove tricky as I don't have access to a fax machine...

Anyway, I've signed up and am looking forward to getting my hands on my account

My server was activated about 4 hours after I register with no phone call, fax or extra information.

Guess that does count as activated within hours

They do manual fraud checks. If something comes up fishy, they might contact you, but as long as you're on the upandup, it doesn't take long.
