I've been trying all day to access linode .com and keep getting a screen that says Failure to Connect to Web Server. I finally tried to access linode.com using anonymouse.org and can get in no problem but am unable to sign in or do anything with my Linode since it doesn't support using https. I can't even access the support ticket system. Does anybody have any idea what the problem is that I can't access the site.

Can you please paste a traceroute to linode.com?

Thanks,

Sounds like a bad route at your ISP. You could call them up, wait for twelve minutes on hold, then get connected to someone in India working at 3AM local time for 2 bucks an hour with a Master's degree, who's not going to be able to tell you anything, or you could just wait for it to get fixed. Which it will.

I must be doing something wrong, I don't get anything useful out of traceroute.

I get the same thing no matter what host I try, even ones I know that work.

I can ssh into my host and server, I just can't get to the website.

I have been wondering if it is the ISP but I have no way of proving it. I hope it will fix itself, I have two different websites I have been using anonymouse.org on for over a year since I can't contact them directly. I guess I will call my isp, what fun.

Looks like you've got a firewall in front of you that blocks traceroute. It's an annoying if not uncommon occurrance. If you have access to a host on another network, try that one instead.

Well calling my ISP fixed it. I didn't want to but it worked. Seems they downloaded new software to the modem that requires specific proxy settings in your web browser. It would have been nice if they told us.

Disable remote management and tftp on the modem. Better yet, get a new ISP.
