I believe you can run whatever you want as long is it doesn't negatively impact other customers or send spam or violate any laws, etc.

Abandonware is likely to be classified as copyrighted material, though. The Acceptable Use Policy has this to say about Copyright Infringement:

Quote:
Linode.com datacenter infrastructure including network, leased hardware, co-location services, and other hardware located in the facility may only be used for lawful purposes. Transmission, distribution, or storage of any information, data or material in violation of United States or state regulation or law, or by the common law, is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, material protected by copyright, trademark, trade secret, or other intellectual property rights. Linode.com's services may not be used to facilitate infringement of these laws in any way.

Creative, utilizing, or distributing unauthorized copies of software are a violation of federal and state law. If you copy, distribute or install the software in ways that the license does not allow, you are violating federal copyright law. Linode.com will cooperate with all law enforcement agencies in relation to alleged copyright infringement housed in our datacenters.

Or as I interpret it, "it'll work as long as you don't get caught". Linode.com won't actively check if you're hosting copyrighted material, but they will act on it if they are contacted by the copyright owner.

If it's copyrighted material and you don't have permission to distribute it, then no go.

Alright, thanks. I just thought it might not be as big a deal because the copyrights on alot of abandonware aren't actively enforced.
