How long will it take before my Linode will be setup after paying at around 3am (EST)

Also, how is my bandwidth usage metered? Do you have a control panel or something?

Will the special free setup offer be extended? My current VDS only ends on the 18th. But the offer is valid only till 15th.

I would call you the following morning, usually by noon. After that, you'll be activated.


The Member's section will display your net usage, updated every hour.


You should get it early then, and have a few days to move everything over . The setup fee's will probably be much lower that what appears on the products page at the moment.

I dont know if this is standard, but mine was setup INSTANTLY, like as soon as my credit card had gone thru, my linode was ready!!! very impressive!!!! As soon as i had installed my distro, i could ssh in and do whatever i wanted....

I really cant say how happy i am with this service, and the difference it makes having full control of a box (or a portion of it

For a developer this is a dream come true! I know there are other hosts round that you can get root access to, however linode seems like it is the most advanced, in terms of management of the whole system with the distro manager etc.... makes it ALOT easier to get up and running... etc. etc.. etc..

I agree with zan, linode.com is an excellent provider if you need control of your own box, and dont need all the resources of a full linux box, for a fraction of the cost.
I submitted my CC info, got a call, and it was all setup within minutes.
If you go anywhere else, you probably wont find a message board like this either

I agree, a message board (particularly a popular one) is always a good sign of a good provider isn't it? When there isn't one you only have the providers word for what performance, downtime etc is like.
