Hi,

Just wondering does Linode offer any discounts for FOSS projects hosted in Linode? I've got a FOSS project (a Servlet container) hosted currently under Linode. It serves samples of servlet web applications and it's documentation running in Linode. I'd like to get the servlet container we have to serve applications like Jira, Confluence, Fisheye etc. backed by most probably mysql. But I don't think my current plan can allow that memory and cpu wise. Just wondering if I could maybe get a Linode1024 plan for the price of Linode512 or something like that.

Also does Linode offers discount for charity web sites? I've got a few charities community interested to host their websites and was thinking about Linode due to it's effectiveness and am wondering if we could get any discounts off Linode.

Thanks in advance folks

Cheers
tmjee

Tmjee,

We do not offer discounts for FOSS, however you may want to touch base with marketing@linode.com. They handle anything related to sponsorships.

Are the charities officially 503(c) organizations? I don't know about Linode, but I've definitely seen other web hosts offer special deals for actual non-profits.

"Recommendation" is a strong word. Dreamhost offers free hosting to 503c groups, and they were ok as my shared host for a period of time, but have uptime issues more than I'd like. A Salesforce.com employee also told me that they do special deals for 503c groups, but I can't find a link right now. I'd suggest finding a webhost that would fit their technical requirements, and then asking if there are special offers for a 503c.
