Odd behavior

Every day at about the same time the 2nd IP address of my linode drops offline (eth0:0). I can't explain why it's happening. The only way I am able to get it back is rebooting the linode. Any idea where to start with this? I've run rkhunter and although there were a few warnings, nothing major.

What does "drops offline" mean? When you run ip addr, does it show up? Can you bring it back up manually without a reboot? If a packet drops on a switch and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
