Post subject:  Fastmail DNS Hosting

Hi all. Just returning to Linode after some degrees of separation :-). I gave up on google apps for some email hosting and moved to fastmail.fm for the service/support. I would now like to setup a web server on my linode but keep fastmail serving my email. In fastmail, there is a custom DNS setting which allows me to set the IP address for the webhost instance. I am gathering that this is the public IP address for my linode. Do I need to do any other DNS setup if I just want to use fastmail's DNS support, keep my email there, and only have them forward requests for HTTP to my linode? I have not done this type of setup before and usually opted to do the email and web stuff completely on Linode. The custom DNS settings for fastmail let me set a public web address.

Thanks for any help on this. Much appreciated.

Yep assuming fastmail's dns behaves like a normal dns control panel just point an A record for your root domain (i.e. domain.com) to your linode's public IP then set another A record for www.domain.com to the same IP (or you could point a CNAME for www to domain.com)
