Along that same line, if Linode, ThePlanet, AtlantaNAP, HE.net, et. al., started filtering traffic (beyond what Atlanta already does), what is there to stop them from continuing down that path, and get more, and more, and more draconian with their filtering policies... "No more ICMP, you can ping flood", "No more FTP, its insecure", "No more SMTP, it causes spam", "No more ssh, some people have weak passwords", "No more HTTP, people are dumb and click on phishing links", and so on.
The short one liner: Don't mess with my bits.
