I just found out about a company called
Endurance International Group, which is the parent company of many smaller hosting providers. EIG owns more than 50 brands, primarily as a result of acquisitions, including some well-known ones like HostGator and BlueHost, and continues to operate them under their original names. What makes this really suspicious is that websites for EIG-owned providers don't disclose their parent company, as if they operate on their own, suggesting that EIG is intentionally trying to stay hidden. From what I've read, EIG hosting has a reputation for being unreliable to say the least. It's scary to find out that a massive corporation of this sort has eaten up so many different hosting and domain companies, and I'm worried that it could end up taking Linode as well.
Is there any possibility that Linode will be acquired by EIG in the future? If you're a Linode employee, what do you have to say on this? I don't want to see this to happen to such a trusted, reliable VPS provider...
