Hi, I am running a Debian 3.0r1 installation and am trying to find a firewall to work with it using the 2.4.26-linode31.1um kernel.

I can't get Firehol to work because there is no /proc/config support. Can someone recommend a how-to guide for another really simple to use firewall?

Other people have got Firehol to work under Debian on a Linode. The problem to overcome is that, as made by the distro wizard, there is no kernel config file installed. You can get the config from these boards (http://www.linode.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1006 if you're using the latest 2.4 kernel) and copy it to /usr/src/linux/.config - I believe that does the trick.
