I've read this guide (https://gist.github.com/EugeneKay/1ff78396b57f25e69f1d) and tried to follow it, but I do not have a second KVM machine. Is there any way I can install a Windows 2012 R2 server with just the ISO and my Linode?

Skimming over the guide it doesn't look like you need two Linodes. I've tried running a similar process myself but haven't finished yet. If you run into issues following his guide, I recommend talking to him on our IRC channel, he posted his handle there in the guide.
