Is apache solr required for drupal 8?

Hi folks,

I want to clarify about apache solr for drupal. Is it required to run Drupal 8 website or not? because I have to make a deal with the hosting company where I will host my website. Because if I require apache solr I have to pay more for them.

Linode doesn't care what you install on your VPS. If you need Apache Solr, go ahead and install it. The only reason it would cost you more is if it requires more resources (memory or disk, cpu rarely) than your current Linode has.
