I am going to be migrating from Gentoo to CentOS so I created a CentOS parition and set it in my configuration.

Is a reboot required to see it on my host? I don't see yet.

You will need to reboot your Linode to see any new drives, yes. Think of it as if you were physically adding a new drive to a real computer - new drives are only detected when the computer powers on.
