Hi,
after I yum update,
I've got this error on boot.

Press 'I' to enter interactive startup.
Cannot access the Hardware Clock via any known method.
Use the --debug option to see the details of our search for an access method.
Setting clock (utc): Thu Jul 16 18:54:50 CEST 2009 [ OK ]
Starting udev: [ OK ]

is there a solution to that problem?
I know that is a common problem now but I don't know a solution.
please help.

I've never seen this error before so I couldn't really tell you if it's all that serious or not, but from memory, Xen Linodes have a tty1 but not a tty0, which I believe UML linode's used to have, so I think this would be the reason, I may be wrong though.

As for how to reconfigure it to use tty1, I'm not sure. Sorry.

the strange things is that I've got this error only after a yum update so now I would fix it :(

Have you tried looking in the vicinity of line 396 in /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit? cat -n /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit | grep -C 10 396 is one way of doing that.

Looks like the error occurs when it is trying to load the keyboard map (see man loadkeys for more). This is probably nothing serious in itself if your system is working otherwise. If you are successfully accessing the system via ssh directly, you may want to also try LISH and the AJAX console to see if the keyboard mapping is screwed up on one of these (would be unfortunate if you needed to use LISH or the AJAX console in an emergency and there was some weird problem!).

If /dev/tty0 does not exist on your system, I'd start looking into udev as the likely culprit. Check /var/log/yum.log to see which packages were upgraded most recently, focusing on initscripts and udev.

You said it yourself, you can use lish and ssh just fine. No problems there, so this "problem" really isn't a problem.

after that, is there any reason why you have tty0 and now after a yum update I haven't anymore tty0?

Our CentOS server also lacks /dev/tty0:

CentOS release 5.3 (Final)
$ ls /dev/tty?
/dev/tty1  /dev/tty3  /dev/tty5  /dev/tty7  /dev/tty9
/dev/tty2  /dev/tty4  /dev/tty6  /dev/tty8

Doesn't seem to be a problem. I assume the same error would appear on boot for us because the relevant part of /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit looks the same. Haven't rebooted for about five months, though.
