I need to build a website that would benefit from Comet capabilities. For the server, I am thinking of dedicating a linode. For the client side, I'd like a Jquery support and for the server side either PHP or C++.
Any idea on which framework I should use and maybe share some experience. By the way, have you tried a Comet server and a regular apache http server on the same linode?

If you use nginx you could use the http push module: http://pushmodule.slact.net/
