Based on a recommendation in this forum gave http://www.nearlyfreespeech.net a try. Easy sign up, no problem registering a new domain, help was clear and concise so suitable for someone not terribly familiar with DNS.

Overall positive experience. I particularly like their straight forward and clear pricing and policies. Nothing's 'on sale', just a nice reasonable flat rate for a new domain, a transfer, a renew and all the same for the TLD's they service.

So for your VERY FIRST POST on this forum, you decided to share that with us eh?

And not even in the thread that discussed registrars.

Pardon me if I say that smells pretty much like SPAM.

Not in this case.

He's been a forum member since last September, that doesn't smell like a spammer.

They're a pretty good host if you have a small site with little dynamic content and you don't need SSL. It literally costs pennies a month to maintain a site with a few static pages. Their privacy policy is also very good. No bullshit whatsoever.

For all other purposes, Linode rocks.

Not a spammer I assure you, user error apparently. I had meant to reply in the registrars thread where I read about this registrar but somehow I created a new thread.

I don't plan on using the hosting provided there at all actually. I'm a happy, current Linode customer but Linode doesn't offer registrar services.

I'm gonna add to the spam as it is only my 3rd post
But I did also register one domain there and it looks pretty clean, compare to some awful stuff I've been seeing around. It's been easy, not shit around to unclick or dirty ads. Nope, really, that smells like linode's type.

Ok, the only difference with jphelps is that I posted in the registrar topic first :p

Well if you guys would just buy something, then I wouldn't have to post sooooooo often.
