A linode, running a "plain vanilla" debian Lenny have clam-update logging a network failure every day. Log is below.
I checked the FAQ but cannot find nothing useful. Mirrors in /etc/clamav/freshclam.com starts as follows and ends with clamav.gencore.org (should be the automatic list).
Code:
DatabaseMirror db.uk.ipv6.clamav.net
DatabaseMirror db.uk.clamav.net
DatabaseMirror db.local.clamav.net

Any hint is appreciated, I think it's something evident, but it seems I cannot find it. Thank you!

Why Debian 5? It's no longer supported so that might be why. Try upgrading to Squeeze.

The debian Squeeze packages use this:

Quote:
# Use DNS to verify virus database version. Freshclam uses DNS TXT records
# to verify database and software versions. With this directive you can change
# the database verification domain.
# WARNING: Do not touch it unless you're configuring freshclam to use your
# own database verification domain.
# Default: current.cvd.clamav.net
#DNSDatabaseInfo current.cvd.clamav.net

# Uncomment the following line and replace XY with your country
# code. See http://www.iana.org/cctld/cctld-whois.htm for the full list.
# You can use db.XY.ipv6.clamav.net for IPv6 connections.
#DatabaseMirror db.XY.clamav.net

# database.clamav.net is a round-robin record which points to our most
# reliable mirrors. It's used as a fall back in case db.XY.clamav.net is
# not working. DO NOT TOUCH the following line unless you know what you
# are doing.
DatabaseMirror database.clamav.net

Try using those. Good luck

EDIT: If you need other options, I don't know where the GenCore one is defined. Try comparing with the ones in here: http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/ma ... rig.tar.gz

Oh, sorry... yes, this is debian squeeze (I always mix names, to be clear is the current debian-stable).

I see your config file is really different, so at this point I suspect something (or me months ago, it could be) has changed the configuration file.

I just 'dpkg-reconfigure clamav-freshclam' and picked the defaults (and asked to rewrite the conf). Hopefully this will solve the problem, I'll post back if it's still not working.

Thank you for your time!
