I originally bought my linode namely to host my MUD, but then I learned what all I was actually "able" to do with a linode -- Anything I could do with my own private linux box and static IP's, with little stipulations.
Because of that, I learned how to do Linux DNS'ing with the support of people in the Linode community as a whole, and finally got started in something I've wanted to do for several years... become a Mud Host. Linode ranks in the tops of my books, and I'd highly recommend buying one, even if it was the smallest one, just to see it's capabilities.
