I finally moved to a VPS for my personal site / blog after over a decade on shared hosting.

Shared hosting *was* actually decent back in the day, but as the years went on, performance and service progressively worsened.

I had a hard time sorting through all the VPS cruft on google, but eventually settled on Linode. After a few hours of lighting up my VM and migrating my DBs, files and DNS, I was back online quite easily.

Anyway, I am very happy with my Linode VPS. Everything is working great.
