The failed device on the RAID array that was removed from the array last week still had one small partition mounted (/boot2, the redundant boot partition). Usually it's a few bad blocks in the range of the array that cause it not to be useable by the array... Well, this drive totally bit the dust causing host10 to slow down. The machine wouldn't even boot because /boot2 couldn't be mounted at boot time.
The failed /dev/hdc now has now been completely removed from fstab and the array.
The Linodes are booting now. My apologies for the slow/downtime.
