Hey Caker,

Any chance we could get email notifications of system re-boots? To be honest, I rarely have time to frequent the web board, but, like everyone else, I always check my email.

It would be nice to have a heads up in advance, rather than notice your web site is powered down, after the fact.

Thanks!!

Clapper,

Check out this thread from a while back. Chris uses the linode-announce user group to post important announcements, including the recent reboot schedule.

Clapper,
If your node is affected by the upgrade process, Chris sends an email to the address listed in your Linode account profile. At least, I got one.

Weird, I don't think I got one. I know my mail account is known, because I always get billing reminders! ;0

I just wondered whether there was rhyme or reason for the hosts you choose to upgrade?

For example, host21 is running a kernel that's almost 11 months old and so probably doesn't have any of the enhancements you've added.

processor : 0
vendor_id : User Mode Linux
model name : UML
mode : skas
host : Linux host21.linode.com 2.6.4-1-bigmem #4 SMP Thu Mar 18 14:50:47 EST 2004 i686
bogomips : 2510.02

Not that I'm complaining and I'm mostly happy with performance. Just curious :-)

I don't do this anymore, since I modded the forums to include the "watch this forum" feature. Click on "System and Network Status", scroll to the bottom, and click on Watch This forum.

I sent out a notice a few days ago. What's your username or email, and I'll search my logs to see what happened.

Most of the machines needed an upgrade to re-sync the raid array. Host1 didn't, but was affected by a bad bridging/e100 interaction which kicked the box off the network every now and then for a short while.

Host26 and host31 were upgraded for performance reasons.

Aw, and we Host1-ers had the biggest uptime too. :-)

Actually, those on host2 had the longest uptime of any UML, I believe: 417 days :)

417 days is all well and good, but they were almost two hours behind Host 1, at least according to your earlier messages.

Host1: 417 days, 20:26
Host2: 417 days, 18:43

It's all moot now, as we're only working on our second day. HOWEVER, we're still ahead of Host 2 by a few minutes!
