Why don't you update all the hosts in all datacenters to the latest stack if that's the case?
As wise engineers in my past life told taught me.
"Don't fix it if it ain't broke."
If it's not a security fix and it's working well enough, why just update for the sake of updating until you absolutely need to? For someone like Linode to update their software every time a new version comes out would mean taking down upwards of 40 Linodes on a server (don't know the exact numbers) and potentially 100s of websites.
I've only been at Linode for a short time, but I really like the way these guys think, act and behave in terms of being system admins and as a company. The customer service and support are top notch and these guys seem to be very technically competent.
I put Linode right on par with Pair Networks. Another class act company that really seems to have every thing together on all fronts (technological side, business front, support, customer service, etc)
