ThePlanet is currently working through a network or routing issue affecting hosts 1 through 8. More details to follow.

Chris,
Do you think it would be possible to send out e-mails to everyone regarding a major issue like this? host5.* went down about half an hour ago, and I can't sit down to eat supper because I've got a million people calling and asking why their email doesnt work.
If you could put up a notification system for when there's upgrades, etc it would be appreciated by me, and likely many of the other linoders.

ThePlanet lost power to our rack, due to a shared power circuit tripping the breaker. They've removed the other users on that circuit so now we have enough power, and the hosts are coming back online.

Currently, host1, host3 and host4 are online.

Will update this thread as the other hosts are back online.

Did someone plug too many lights into The Planet's Christmas tree or what?

Why is host5 taking so long to come back up. Is it fscking?

Host2 is back online.

All host are now back online.

I was informed immediately after the hosts went down, via the monitoring and escalation procedure I have arranged with ThePlanet.

From what I gathered from ThePlanet, the power circuit we shared had too many servers connected (not just ours, one or two other customers of theirs were affected). No one added more machines, just that it finally overloaded the circuit and tripped the breaker.

Each machine was brought back online in a sequence in order to not overload the circuit while they moved the other customer's machines off to different circuits.

Now that we're on our own circuit, ThePlanet says this won't be an issue in the future.

Thanks and sorry for the downtime.

-Chris

Absolutely. I think what would be most useful is a notification on the Member's home page which states the current status. This could help with other things as well.
