I'd like to be able to sell my clients their own domain names (specifically .com & .co.uk).

My clients are not technically literate, so want the interface to be as simple as possible.

I'd like to code up a custom checkout process that:

(a) Helps them to choose a domain
(b) Accepts payment
(c) Registers the domain in their name with 3rd party & points the nameservers to ns*.linode.com
(d) Creates the relevant ns entries at linode.com to point to my webhosting & email services

I'm looking for a 3rd party registrar with a decent API that will allow me to handle (c). Ideally I want something that is easy to integrate into my site, and doesn't try to upsell my customers to 3rd party products.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

David

This forum is for problems or questions regarding Linode's hosted DNS service, not for questions about DNS/Domains in general.

It's not my field, but the "big guys" seem to be Tucows' OpenSRS at http://www.opensrs.com/. I haven't done business with them, but they've been around awhile and they'd probably be first on my list of registrars to look at. -rt

Thanks for the link to OpenSRS. For later readers of this thread, here are the results of my research:

API gets some praise in forums - http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=745598

On my work I use openSRS. It's cheap, and it works, but the interface is very confusing. It took some time before I found my way trough it.
For my personal domains, I use http://odrv2.opendomainregistry.net/. Great interface and also very cheap. But that's a dutch only service, I think.

Hi,

I had the same question years ago but finally I decided to go with resellerclub. It worked very well for me.

You can see an example how it works, here.

I can register a reseller account for you under reseller account, or if you want to do by yourself, you can register here.

Feel free to ask any question, I'll be glad to help.

Hi. What is the official website for reseller club? I have tried googling but couldn't find it.

www.resellerclub.com -- your Google-fu seems weak.

You may want to look at hexonet.net as well. They have an awesome interface as well as API.

I quite enjoy the pricing from NetEarth One:
http://reseller.netearthone.com/

I haven't tried their API yet, but they do have an HTTP-based API:
