Love the Longview update.

In your first example, your first screenshot displays an incredible amount of information for all the instances (type, location, status, etc.) with links to manage, delete, etc. Your alternative screenshot takes the entire browser window area to tell you that all instances are using less than 5% of CPU, which isn't incredibly useful.

In your second example, your first screenshot has maximum and average values for each metric and y-axis labels that make sense. The second screenshot has less information (no max or avg) and weird y-axis labels. In the first graph in the second screenshot, why are the labels 9%, 18%, and 27%? Wouldn't 10%, 20%, and 30% make more sense? In the network graph, it's hard to determine the actual value of one of the peaks when you see that it's somewhere between 63 and 125 KB/s. Why not label them in 50 or 100 KB/s increments?

What exactly do you like better about your "improved" versions? How would you redesign the old pages?

Guess I should have prefaced with saying that the "More like this" links are from Longview, not my own stuff. Also, when you mouse over a graph in Longview, it does this: http://i.imgur.com/eY7qcEF.png. Which I think alleviates your concern of less data.

As for the first group and the current Linode Manager, there's no sorting other than by the groups I've set up. It would be nice to have sorting by data contained within each Linode (such as CPU, Memory, Location, etc.).

I think having the Linode Manager look more like Longview using the data that isn't a part of Longview would be helpful and I think the Longview interface is something to strive towards.

Disagree. In the first example, the first screenshot shows the information in a much better organized and understandable fashion. In the second example, the first screenshot shows the information in a much more readable format.

Both of your suggestions would be detrimental, I believe.

I have to agree with Guspaz here -- the way the manager is organized now is very nice and shows all the information in a compact and non over the top way. It might just be me, but even for Longview, the bright colors and so forth kind of hurt my eyes if I just happen to glance at it to see how my servers are doing while it's late at night and I'm tired or similar. The current interface for the normal graphs and such are relatively basic and don't tend to do that.

I guess this request was more of a "Let brianok try his hand at redoing the current manager"

I will say that javascriptified rrd graphs might be nice, something perhaps like munin does (but a bit nicer working). But RRD displays a lot of information including text data - which is something "pretty" javascript graphs just don't do well.
