I've been with Linode over 2.5 years now, but last month I needed to cancel my account for a month. A few days ago, I came back to Linode, and there was a little annoyance, if it can actually be called that way, when it comes to billing.

Namely, when I needed to select my country in a list of countries, I couldn't find Serbia anywhere. That was pretty much strange to me, because I've successfully opened my account the first time over 2 years ago. I kept looking at the list, and eventually found out that Serbia is definitely not on the list, but there is - keep tight - Yugoslavia. For the record, Yugoslavia doesn't exist for years now, but there are many people from the former Yugoslavia who want to use your service, but may eventually give up because they can't find their country in the list, thinking that your service is unavailable in their country. I've had several occasions during these few days when I needed to tell my friends and colleagues that you can sign up, but that they have to select Yugoslavia as their country of origin.

Are there any plans to update the list of countries? I know that it can be complicated because underneath is probably a pretty complex billing system, but still...

How do computers even operate in that cold barren wasteland?

We have specifically - trained unicorns which we then plug into our hardware of choice. It gets tricky when you upgrade the kernel sometimes, and then you have to grow a beard, learn libc by heart and keep singing Fight Club soundtrack while gcc does its job, and hope for the best. 8)

It's hard to find reliable unicorns. Kudos to your persistence in what must be difficult training arrangements for those precocious beasts.

We have a contract with North Korean government from the time of communist Yugoslavia, they keep us supplied to date, and they're of an extremely high quality and can be relatively easily trained. Linode should consider a datacenter there, I hear the climate is optimal and the grass is green.

Maybe a support ticket would be better for this. Linode are using a pre-2006 country list.

*looks at wikipedia information on Serbian climate*

*looks at Belgrade January average low of -1 degree*

*looks at Montreal January average low of -12 degrees*

Cold and barren wasteland my foot, Belgrade looks like a tropical paradise.

So, the joke is that you can't read...? I generally try to avoid laughing at the illiterate.

Now I don't know if he's serious or just trolling. Either way, Wikipedia is his friend.

zunzun,
The magical wrinkle-healing properties of unicorn feces is a myth. A true unicorn doesn't poop at all. They simply turn waste into rainbow glitter (similar to what they do with it on the International Space Station).
