It seems that the wiki has been a casualty of the recent Linode.com overhaul; I find this quite unfortunate as it did contain useful information. I for once had been updating the NetBSD installation HOWTO for over a year and I am now unable to find the original source for that page. Could you please bring the wiki back? It might not have been entirely accurate or up-to-date but it was an important resource especially for those of us maintaining guides for less popular software.

No, I'm referring to the wiki which could be reached via https://www.linode.com/wiki/index.php and contained only user-provided content AFAIK.

Ah, it's been so long since I'd seen that, I'd forgotten it existed. Perhaps it was merged with the library?

Maybe some material was indeed merged into the library but the page I was tending to was not as I can't find anything related to NetBSD in the library. While I do unerstand that running *BSDs is not directly supported on Linode it worked just fine (and still works for me).

I believe the wiki was legacy and that the library was meant to replace it. I agree there was some useful information in there (for me about running your own hidden master DNS with Linode's nameservers as the public ones) that was not on the Library.

If it helps, you can find some of it in Archive: https://web.archive.org/web/20130601190 ... tBSD_howto

I've brought back the wiki temporarily. It's read-only, and it will be going away in the near future. If there's data you want to preserve there, please do so:

Thanks, that's really appreciated!

Without wanting to be gratuitously lazy and selfish, is anyone planning to archive it permanently? Maybe if akerl leaves it up long enough, the Internet Archive will crawl it. Or someone could spider it and keep a static HTML version. Or Linode could release a MediaWiki db dump?

Sure, I've made a copy of the Wiki and will be hosting it here. Registrations/edits are disabled.

If people have an interest in it and I could get donations to pay for the costs, I'd be willing to set up a Linode to host it. It would be helpful to have some small amount of compensation for the work in maintaining it though. Some long term trustworthy Linode users could be enlisted to help maintain it if they were interested.
