Are you blocking ICMP Pings from 64.5.53.0 subnet?

We're using that as a heartbeat and network failover mechanism.

Thanks,
-Chris

Hmm -- well, I'd love to take a look...

Would you mind creating a user account for me so I can take a look?

Fill out a support ticket with the info and we'll get this resolved.

I'm using the debian (small) profile, every now and then the box just disappears. - The web server is unreachable and ssh is unresponsive. Connections are not broken, however and if I wait long enough it will wake up and process all the random keys I punched in in frustration :)

I've made a change in the network that might have an effect on this issue.

Please let me know if it improves things.

Thanks,
-Chris

Monitoring the system this evening I discovered the problem:

Processes stuck in "D" state. It blocks everything for at least a few minutes, and then clears up. This is it, I'm sure.

Building a patch now --

-Chris

I am having the same problem, with great frequency, since mine linode still is not being used in production.

The problem seems to be resolved when I originate one tcp connection at linode.

You're seeing a different problem from something I forgot to configure on the (new) host server your Linode is on that came online last evening.

This has been corrected, thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Also, a note on the status of the new kernel: It seems stable and much better performing under high I/O load. Thanks to the kernel developers who fixed this long-running issue.

Still not working.

I also tried to reboot the linode.

If I leave it alone for 5 - 10 min then I can't connect anymore ( www, ssh, smtp... ). When I make a single ping <anyexternal IP> at remote console session it resume working in seconds.

Please take a closer look.

Thanks.
