Will nptl ever be possible on a Linode? I admit that I don't know much about it, but all the recent versions of SBCL depend on it.

It's coming. Jeff said it's likely to be included in 2.6.16.

Any status on nptl support. The newest Gentoo glibc, 2.4-r1,requires nptl nptlonly use flags. I cant upgrade my glibc because of this. I will mask it and move on but was just wondering.

I'm also waiting on nptl so I can run sbcl.

As it is, the only lisp that runs without crashing (much) for me is clisp. Then again, lisp implementions in general tend to abuse the hardware and OS facilities like nobody's business (like, say, using SIGSEGV for doing memory management,) so I'm not really all that suprised that they tend to have issues in emulated hardware.

It didn't make it into 2.6.16-um (but a lot of other good stuff did, including softints, which should give a very decent performance gain). I'll build a 2.6.16 kernel with TLS once Jeff updates his patches page.
