Hi All,

I have put together a small Slackware 11.0 distribution. It's 96 MB and comes with essential tools and networking support to get your linode running. The idea is that Slackware users know what they're doing and would use this distribution to bootstrap the installation of other packages that they want.

The project of putting this together is a follow on to two earlier posts of mine:
http://www.linode.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1890
http://www.linode.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2520

This post is actually feature request: I'd like the Linode folks to make this distribution available in the Distribution Wizard. I'd be happy to forward the two shell scripts I've written that create the distribution and do the Linode-specific tweaks that are needed to get it to boot.

If this sort of thing belongs in the wiki, let me know.

-C

Excellent -- thanks for doing that. I have "update distros" on my list, which I'll be checking twice before xmas, so now would be a great time. Feel free to email those scripts to me (caker@...) or post them here.

Thanks!
-Chris

OK, here are links to a readme and the two scripts:

readme.txt http://hodain.net/slackware/slackware-11.0/readme.txt

make_slackware_root.sh http://hodain.net/slackware/slackware-11.0/make_slackware_root.sh.txt

do_linode_fixes.sh http://hodain.net/slackware/slackware-11.0/do_linode_fixes.sh.txt

And FYI, here's a list of the set of packages that the first script installs:
packages.txt http://hodain.net/slackware/slackware-11.0/packages.txt

Looking forward to a Slackware 11.0 (small) in the Distribution Wizard!
