I have a daily cron job that contacts the bandwidth site
http://www.linode.com/members/bw/?user=sweh
and generates a report from it. Over the past couple of weeks it's had about a 20% failure rate

Looking up www.linode.com
www.linode.com
Making HTTP connection to www.linode.com
Alert!: Unable to connect to remote host.

lynx: Can't access startfile http://www.linode.com/members/bw/?user=sweh

Because this is from cron.daily it runs around 0405 Eastern.

Any ideas?

No; the code has been working fine for a long time, it's only recently had reliability issues contacting the server. It's not failed yet since I asked the question...
