Hi,

Are there any estimates as to when Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) might be available? I'm currently awaiting the arrival of this version to sign up for a linode.

Or is it wiser to just sign up and do the upgrade myself from a 7.04?

Sign up and do the upgrade. Ubuntu have a server upgrade tool now.
Code:
sudo apt-get install update-manager-core
and
Code:
sudo do-release-upgrade
and you're done.
