Hello,
I'm a newbie and have just signed up for my Linode about a week ago. I got started with the Debian distribution because that's what I've been running on a laptop at home. Tonight I tried out the Gentoo distribution, but I've run into somewhat of a snag.
The /usr/portage directory is not laid out as described in the Gentoo docs. There is another directory, /usr/portage/portage~, which seems to be the "real" Portage tree. Does the Linode Gentoo distribution intend to be this way? Will this affect the operation of emerge?
I ran "emerge sync" and got a flurry of these errors:
mkstemp <path-to-file-from-package-here> failed: No space left on device
A check of df reports that I've got 241M of a 1010M filesystem free.
