Unless you're running over 4 Gig of RAM or doing intense math I really don't see the use of going 64 Bit. I've been running 64 Bit Gentoo on my home system for a couple of years, very happy but I've got 8 Gig of RAM on that box. For Linode I went with 32 Bit, didn't see the use of 64 Bit.
BTW - Since I boot strapped a Stage 1 install of Gentoo on my Linodes I've been happy as a Clam

I keep the bare base install as a tarball if I ever need/want to deploy again, works great
