Any chance of getting to deploy a 64-bit Gentoo any time soon?

You could do it on your own using the custom howto..

I usually just do a Gentoo install from inside a temporary Debian deployment.

You're best off booting the provided finnix live distro, and installing per the Gentoo handbook.

Finally, someone here wrote this up which you'll likely find helpful.

Unless you're running over 4 Gig of RAM or doing intense math I really don't see the use of going 64 Bit. I've been running 64 Bit Gentoo on my home system for a couple of years, very happy but I've got 8 Gig of RAM on that box. For Linode I went with 32 Bit, didn't see the use of 64 Bit.

BTW - Since I boot strapped a Stage 1 install of Gentoo on my Linodes I've been happy as a Clam I keep the bare base install as a tarball if I ever need/want to deploy again, works great

I'd just like to point out that 64-bit performs unfavorably versus 32-bit in low-memory environments. Unless you've got a 1440 Linode or above, that's you.
