It would be nice to have the 64 bit version of Finnix available. Currently I have to waste space keeping a small Debian 64 bit installation for recovery purposes.

I'm interested in moving to 64 bit Linux myself. May I ask why the recovery OS need also be 64 bit?

If you're trying to bootstrap an OS, it's really handy to be able to chroot to your target directory and run the executables therein.

If the system you're installing is 64-bit, and you're running a 32-bit kernel, you won't be able to.

All done. Well, that was painless. Apache + Django sure runs faster, I actually turned off memcache to recover its RAM. I do see some software using more RAM on 64 bit that 32 bit, and am considering bumping up memory on my Linode. Maybe not.
