I'm about to reboot my box, this was happening last night as well, but only an httpd process was dieing every once in a while, this one was a bit more major...
Can the issues you are experiencing on host7 cause these memory issues as well? Or do I need to look into getting more...
The issue he is speaking of is related to disk IO. The issue here is the kernel not being able to allocate memory so it tries to free memory by killing processes starting with the biggest. I assume you are on a Linode 64, but how much swap space do you have setup? Swap is important even with lots of RAM. It makes the kernel happy.
