caker rebooted my Linode from his iPhone.

No joke.

In all seriousness, a lot of us in the office use iPhones, and the magic in the manager is already there. I'm unfamiliar with the Slicehost iPhone application...I cannot commit to anything, but what (out of curiosity) would you like to see in an iPhone application? What functionality would you need?

Looks like the same developer who made the Slicehost app is also making a Rackspace cloud app. Some screen shots here:

The ability to get real time stats, reboot nodes and manage dns would be great. A mobile interface is nice, but nothing beats a native iPhone App.

I would love an iPhone/iPod Touch App.

The Linode Manager looks very good just by navigating to the site on the Motorola Droid. Its easy to use everything and what not. Between that and a SSH app available for free in the market, I'm all set! :D

OK if you want to check your Linode's status and remotely boot/reboot/shutdown

Checkout Linode Manager

I use ConnectBot on my Android phone (HTC Dream, known as a G1 in the US), and am very happy with it.

ConnectBot is a full featured SSH client, I have yet to find a functino that I can't perform remotely that I can do from home. It's responsive, even running top on Australian 3G it updates every second, and is available for free from the Android market. AndFTP is also pretty handy for directory maintenance, though I still prefer the SSH client.

Surely there is something similar for the iPhone? Obviously the lack of a keyboard would be annoying as you'd presumably you'd lose half the screen to show the keyboard, and entering punctuation could be painful.

There are a thousand and one SSH clients for the iPhone (along with VNC, RDP, etc). Last time I checked, though, all the SSH clients were commercial.

There's a free RDP client that works pretty well, though.

I love ConnectBot - especially the tab & / shortcuts on the right ctrl and shift keys. Very nice client, and with LISH & my node saved as profiles, I have quick access to any maintenance I need to do.

ConnectBot works great. I had to add the entire verizon wireless broadband IP block to hosts.allow so I can SSH in :). LISH works except I can't seem to get BACKSPACE to work.. Hmmm!

Well, I happen to own a Palm Pre, and develop for it..

Would anyone be interested in a Linode Palm Pre application? Also, I would develop one for the iPhone, (I am an Apple Dev.) however, I have no Mac OS X install working ATM.

I'm a Palm Pre owner. I'd probably install the app, just because that would be pretty slick. I'm not sure I'd find it really necessary, since I don't interact much with the Linode control panel anyway, and the Web site works.

An app for my crackberry would be nice as well. But as someone else stated, I don't really feel its necessary. How many times do you actually login Linode a month? :P

I own a Pre too, and am currently writing an app along the lines discussed here. I can't say when it'll be done, though (couple of months maybe?).
