I administer three Linodes. I haven't done any logging or testing on this matter; this is based purely on my subjective impressions.

Host 4 has good responsiveness and I rarely see the host load very much above idle.

Host 8 has good responsiveness and I've never seen the host load above medium.

Host 12 operates in fits and starts, and I often see the host load pegged out at maximum.

It's possible that there's simply more activity on host 12, and thus the high host load reading. It's also possible that there's something amiss on host 12. Can anyone share any insight on this?

I'm on that system as well, and have noticed the same thing.

I just signed up about a week ago. Is this normal behavior to expect?

I've monitored the loadavg on host12 for the past few days, and it's been less than 1 the majority of the time. In fact, host12 has the lowest loadavg across all the servers.

Perhaps what you are seeing are deployments causing a slight lag on the host? This should subside as people get moved in.

I have to agree with previous posts. There appears to be something odd going on with host12. It often becomes unresponsive for half a minute at a time, yet the load meter says there's nothing going on.

I'm running an IRC daemon for myself and some close friends, and usually several of them will time out during the freeze, so I suspect it's something on the host side acting up...
